Arsenal legend Lukas Podolski is now a kebab kingpin worth a whopping £180million and he's ready to take on fast food giant McDonald's.
The former Gunners and Germany striker has built up an impressive business empire, which includes a chain of kebab shops named Mangal Doner. Here, you can get your hands on a 'Podolski Sandwich' for just £6.77.
His first shop opened in Cologne, where he kicked off his football career, and there are now 30 branches across the country.
In 2017, a year before opening his first kebab shop, Podolski started a dessert company called Ice Cream United in the same city. But it's not all about food for Podolski, he's also launched a music festival and organised a football tournament featuring fans, ex-players and social media influencers.
His various business ventures have helped him amass a reported net worth of £177.5m. This includes earnings from his illustrious football career, which saw him play for top clubs like Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and of course, Arsenal, reports the Daily Star.
Podolski is keen to expand his business even further and isn't afraid to take a swipe at fast food titan McDonald's over the quality of its meals. In a chat with YouTuber Sascha Hellinger, he defended the price of his kebabs, saying: “If you order a menu at McDonald's, you pay as much as at my stores. Or even more. However, the food will be s***, it lacks quality.”
