Luis Diaz had a goal wrongly chalked off for offside on Saturday following a miscommunication between VAR Darren England and referee Simon Hooper with the score goalless in the first half.
Liverpool, who already had Curtis Jones sent off and also saw Diogo Jota later dismissed, went on to lose a dramatic game 2-1 to suffer their first defeat in 20 matches.
The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) declared after the match the goal was not allowed due to “significant human error” and released the audio of the exchange between the officials on Tuesday evening where the scale of the mistake became clear.

Liverpool’s next options are being explored by Jonathan Bamber, the club’s General Counsel and Director of Football Administration and Governance. And Klopp believes it is only fair the match is replayed due to the unprecedented nature of the blunder.
“The audio didn’t change it at all,” said the Liverpool boss. “Because I was not really interested in why things happened because I knew. I saw the outcome, I saw goal we scored and it didn’t count so I wasn’t now waiting for the audio and sitting there hoping I’d find out how it could happen or whatever.
