Jurgen Klopp has demanded that Liverpool's controversial defeat to Tottenham is replayed after audio of Luis Diaz's disallowed goal was released. Just after the half-hour mark, the 26-year-old winger thought he had put the Reds ahead following a great pass from Mohamed Salah.
The Egypt international wrestled with Micky van de Ven on the right-wing before threading Diaz in-behind Pedro Porro. Through on goal, the Colombia international fizzed a strike past Guglielmo Vicario and, as he wheeled away in celebration, the linesman flagged for offside.
Bizarrely, Diaz's goal against Spurs was ruled out and falsely adjudged to be offside. Later on Saturday evening the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) released a statement admitting to 'significant human error'.
Liverpool then responded with a statement of their own, demanding further information. A day or so later, the PGMOL released audio of the exchange between the match officials as they came to a decision on the incident.
It was revealed that there had been a major lapse in communication. Ahead of Liverpool's clash against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday night, Klopp was quizzed on the matter.
«The audio didn't change it at all because I was not really interested in why things happen,» said the Reds boss. «I saw the outcome, I saw a goal, and I saw it didn't count. It's really important that we deal with it in a proper way.
