Michael Owen believes Dominik Szoboszlai's Steven Gerrard comparison is premature but has been left impressed by the Liverpool midfielder.
Szoboszlai has proved to be a brilliant piece of summer business for the Reds so far with the Hungarian seemingly cementing a starting berth.
He has two goals for Liverpool in all competitions, including his early goal of the season contender in front of the Kop during the 3-1 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
The 22-year-old has earned acclaim for his showings at Anfield after his £60m move from RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga and has drawn comparisons to iconic Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard.

However, Owen - who was an England and Liverpool teammate of Gerrard's - has described the parallels as too "early", setting Szoboszlai a challenge of matching the heights that the Huyton-born midfielder reached during his Anfield career.
"Oh God, that's early. I've liked what I've seen so far," said the 43-year-old.
"He's got great physical shape to be a midfielder. He is a good size. He strikes a cracking ball. He looks at home in a red shirt straight away, which, you know, some people, a famous shirt can weigh heavy on them, but I think he's taken to it absolutely brilliantly."
"So I think there's excitement because it's been an area of the pitch that there's a bit of nervousness about certainly over the summer," Owen continued speaking exclusively to the ECHO via AceOdds.
"But he looks like one that's come in and looks like a really solid, very good signing.
