Liverpool are reportedly battling with Bayern Munich in the race to acquire sporting director Max Eberl.
The 50-year-old has been out of work since the end of September after he was sacked by RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga club claimed that there was a 'lack of commitment' from the chief, after reports emerged that he could become the new man at the top at the Allianz Arena.
BILD are claiming that Liverpool are looking into making Eberl the successor to current sporting director Jorg Schmadtke. The former VfL Wolfsburg boss signed a one-year contract at Anfield after succeeding Julian Ward, following his decision to end his short time in the role.

The outlet has claimed that Liverpool CEO, Billy Hogan, has already made contact with Eberl, who boasts hierarchical roles at Borussia Monchengladbach on his CV. They continue, adding that Marc Kosicke - who is also Jurgen Klopp's agent - represents Eberl.
After 10 months in the position at Leipzig, he was relieved of his duties with supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff claiming the relationship was "beyond repair".
It has previously been suggested that Eberl shares a close relationship with Uli Hoeness, a Bayern Munich board member. During his time at Gladbach and Leipzig, Eberl became renowned for his role in bringing a number of players who enjoyed success in the Bundesliga and around the world, including Marco Reus, Granit Xhaka and Marc-Andre ter Stegen to name a few.
