Kyle McClean was Linfield’s two-goal hero in the BetMcLean Cup when they defeated Dungannon Swifts
David Healy claims that Linfield are being criticised for the same battling qualities that have made Pep Guardiola’s sides serial winners.
He has been irked by suggestions they are grinding their way to results in some games and demanded more respect for his players’ efforts, telling critics to look at the League table.
Healy insisted that hard work is the bedrock to success, with Linfield still fighting on three fronts as the 2023/24 campaign heads for its climax.

Linfield host Crusaders in the standout game from the weekend fixture list and are aiming to maintain their four-point lead at the top.
Healy was delighted with their BetMcLean Cup Semi-Final win, where they overcame Dungannon having played over 30 minutes with 10 men.

“The players again have shown a lot of character, and great credit to them for doing that because that’s the type of question you ask of them,” he said.
“Every manager in world football wants their team to go and knock it about and be silky and be brilliant and whatever else.
“Someone said to me we’ve not been at our best over the last couple of weeks and months and whatever else and that you’re grinding results.
