Liverpool have recalled Calvin Ramsay from his loan deal at Preston North End, the club have confirmed.
Ramsay moved to Preston in the summer on season-long terms but having missed almost four months of the campaign so far due to a knee injury, the young right-back has been unable to nail down a place in Ryan Lowe's team.
As a result, the two clubs have been in contact and the Scottish full-back will now return to his parent side before potentially being sent out elsewhere before the end of the January transfer window.
A statement on Liverpool's official website on Monday read: "Calvin Ramsay has returned to Liverpool from his loan spell at Championship side Preston North End.

"The right-back, a 2022 signing from Aberdeen, is back at the Reds having spent the first half of the season at Deepdale. Ramsay made two senior appearances under Jürgen Klopp during a debut campaign at Anfield that was cut short by an injury that required surgery last February."
PNE boss Ryan Lowe says the decision to send Ramsay back to Liverpool is in the best interest of all parties and he lifted the lid on the reasons for the defender's inability to break into the side while at Deepdale.
The Lancashire Evening Post quotes Lowe as saying: "It was a bit unfortunate for Calvin. He is a fantastic lad and his attitude and application, he did everything right. We had to get him up to match speed, for the Championship and he obviously had a setback when he first came.
"He played against QPR and did okay, but it was his first game for a while. He came on against Middlesbrough at half time as well,
