Adam Lallana has hinted he could retire from football at the end of the season as he weighs up a possible coaching career.
The former Liverpool midfielder joined Brighton & Hove Albion when his Reds contract expired in 2020, having won both the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and European Super Cup during his six years at Anfield.
Since joining the Seagulls, he has gradually combined his playing responsibilities with coaching. He briefly served as interim player-coach at Brighton following Graham Potter’s departure to Chelsea last season, while he joined Lee Carsley’s England Under-21s backroom staff last September.
Meanwhile, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi invited the 35-year-old to shadow him last season as he spent the second half of the campaign on the sidelines because of a thigh injury.

Lallana has made 17 appearances for the Seagulls so far this season, and admits he hasn’t yet decided if it will be his last as a player. And while he’s also undecided if he will embark on a managerial career when he hangs up his boots, he revealed his interest in coaching started when suffering with injuries at Liverpool and playing under Jurgen Klopp.
“When I was injured last year, he (De Zerbi) said, ‘Just shadow me for four months’,” he told My Albion TV. “I was in his office before games, after games. Telling me about the team, what he wants to do, who he’s going to play there.
