Luís Enrique has said that he will not leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, despite interest from former club Barcelona.
During the 2022 Qatar World Cup, former Spain Luís Enrique was praised for his transparency during a series of Twitch streams, where he answered questions posed by viewers. On Thursday, he did his first Twitch stream since becoming PSG manager and opened up on a wide range of topics.
The question of his future and of a potential return to Barcelona was notably evoked during the stream. The Spaniard, who will face his former club in the UEFA Champions League was unequivocal in committing his future to PSG. “As a rule, I respect my contract and am proper with those who place their trust in me. From the first meeting with PSG, I saw that it was a place to develop a great project. I am delighted and I can only thank them. If someone is to tear up the contract, it won’t be me. I’ve never done it and I’m not going to do it now,” he said.
It therefore looks as though Luís Enrique will remain with Les Parisiens until 2025 at least. It has also been reported by Sports Zone that PSG are looking to trigger a one-year extension in the Spaniard’s contract.
That will come as a blow to Barcelona, who will be looking for a new manager come the summer, with Xavi already announcing his upcoming departure. The club’s sporting director, Deco, confirmed the Catalan club’s interest in Luís Enrique, but he looks set to stay put at the Parc des Princes.
