Although their initial bid was rejected last month, Paris Saint-Germain may still be able to complete a deal for Lyon’s young forward Bradley Barcola before the end of the summer, according to a report from L’Équipe tonight.
The 20-year-old’s breakout campaign in the second half of last season saw him score seven goals and register nine assists while playing up front alongside Alexandre Lacazette. Barcola is interested in leaving his formative club for the Ligue 1 champions.
Although Lyon sources tell L’Équipe that Barceola’s day-to-day behaviour remains exemplary, he evidently wants to leave Lyon – as shown by the fact that he is now represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute. He remains under contract at Lyon until 2026.
For the time being, PSG have not made any significant advances on a deal – with talks only taking place between Mendes and sporting advisor Luís Campos on the one hand, and between Mendes and Lyon owner John Textor on the other.
PSG first want to complete a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, while Lyon are anticipating Barcola’s departure by looking at potential options for a wing signing on top of the recent arrival of 19-year-old Ernest Nuamah. Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester City have all enquired about his availability as well, which is said to have unsettled the French U21 international.
