Resed against Clermont Foot at the weekend, Jordan Veretout could return as Olympique de Marseille host Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
The French midfielder was struggling with a minor knock and was therefore left out of the travelling squad to face Clermont as a precaution, however, he is now expected to return. Whether he starts is another question, but Marseille’s options in the middle of the park are limited with neither Pape Gueye nor Jean Onana registered to play in European competition. The same goes for Ulisses Garcia, which will allow Quentin Merlin to start at left-back.
OM will also be without Samuel Gigot, who is still struggling with a shoulder injury, which will lead Jean-Louis Gasset to once again deploy a back four.
Pau Lopez; Quentin Merlin, Leonardo Balerdi, Chancel Mbemba, Jonathan Clauss; Amine Hairt, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Azzedine Ounahi; Iliman Ndiaye, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ismaïla Sarr. (L’Éq)
