Mauricio Pochettino has controversially decided to omit the 'new Eden Hazard' from the Chelsea squad which has travelled to the United States this summer
Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Omari Hutchinson needs a season of first-team football elsewhere before testing himself in the Chelsea first-team. The 19-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a loan away from Stamford Bridge after he was omitted from the travelling squad for the pre-season tour of the United States.
Hutchinson featured in the Blues' matchday squad on several occasions last season, including cameo appearances off the bench against Manchester City in the Premier League and the FA Cup. While the Jamaica international has struggled to establish himself in the starting lineup, it's said that he regularly impresses in training and more opportunities look to be on the horizon – but just not at Chelsea.
According to The Athletic, youth coaches at Cobham have likened Hutchinson to Eden Hazard due to a similar dribbling style, his eye for goal and explosive pace. The teenage sensation is clearly held in high regard by both Chelsea officials and supporters, but he'll have to wait a bit longer to earn the trust of Pochettino.
Hutchinson, and Harvey Vale too, were left out of the travelling squad to 'allow them to concentrate on securing loan moves away', claim The Athletic. The report states that West Bromwich Albion previously reached an agreement to sign the Jamaican in January, but a move collapsed.
