Mikel Arteta facing transfer dilemma with decision on red-hot loan star

Arsenal are braced for interest in Mika Biereth this summer in the wake of the striker's impressive loan spell with Sturm Graz in Austria - leaving Mikel Arteta with a decision to make.

The Denmark Under-21 international joined the Gunners from Fulham in 2021 and has made a big impression this season. He enjoyed a fruitful stint on loan at Motherwell during the first half of the campaign before that spell was cut short following interest in Biereth's services from Europe.

Biereth has gone from strength to strength since joining Sturm Graz, plundering eight goals in just 11 games. And with that in mind, the Bundesliga outfit would like to sign him on a permanent basis. That poses a problem for Arsenal given Biereth has just one year remaining on his current contract and first-team opportunities have been at a premium during his time in north London.

The Gunners must now decide whether to cash in on Biereth while he's in a rich vein of form or, whether to attempt to tie the youngster down to a new deal with a view to him potentially playing a more significant role in the future.

As well as deciding Biereth's future, Arteta has other things to ponder in the forward area as the end of season draws closer, with Arsenal likely to sign a new No.9 in the summer.

After keeping their powder dry in January, the Londoners have compiled a wide-ranging shortlist of potential targets as first revealed by football.london, who claim there are 10 strikers currently being monitored by Arsenal's sporting director, Edu.

Long-term target Ivan Toney features on said list and would likely be attainable given he will have just one year remaining on his Brentford contract. The striker, who recently scored his first goal for England, is by no means the
