Strength in depth is something that Arsenal have been able to add to their squad in recent transfer windows. Whereas in seasons gone by, Mikel Arteta has had a very restricted pool of players he can trust, this season he feels he’s got closer to a squad that compete for the very biggest trophies.
Still though, there is scope to do more. Arsenal are keen to add at least a forward player, a midfielder and a defender to their ranks this summer. New signings may not stop there depending on movements elsewhere in the squad.
But with heavy investment likely to once again be on the agenda, the Gunners know that they will have to generate some money from player sales. Last summer was slightly underwhelming on that front. Granit Xhaka, Folarin Balogun and Matt Turner all left for decent fees, but Arsenal were ultimately hoping for more.
