Pep Guardiola issues injury update on four players as Man City hit by sickness bug before FA Cup

Pep Guardiola says Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku are in contention to make their comebacks from injury for Manchester City this weekend - but Erling Haaland may take longer.

City take on Huddersfield in the FA Cup, which presents an ideal opportunity to ease their injured trio of De Bruyne, Haaland and Doku back into action. De Bruyne made his comeback from a four-month injury last weekend against Sheffield United as he made the matchday squad, but did not come off the bench.

Haaland and Doku have been out for a month with foot and muscular issues respectively, with City cautious to manage their injuries so as not to aggravate anything. Now, they are back in training, and Guardiola has offered an update on their progress.

Speaking ahead of the Huddersfield tie, Guardiola said: "Jeremy feels really, really good and Kevin as well. And Erling is also a little bit better, have to be careful with the bone.

"Kevin has been out a long time. We have to be patient and give the right minutes for him and Jeremy.

"But in the two or three training sessions they feel good and are improving. I don't know about Sunday or Newcastle but for the rest they will be ready."

Guardiola also confirmed that John Stones is 'getting better' but remains out and has not yet returned to training, as he also revealed that a sickness bug has hit the City squad ahead of the Huddersfield game.

Kalvin Phillips, Bernardo Silva, Matheus Nunes and Scott Carson are all doubts for the game having suffered from a fever this week, with Phillips in particular missing a week of training.
