Royal AM coach John Maduka feels their away win over Cape Town Spurs on Saturday could be the catalyst for a leap up the DStv Premiership table, especially given they now play their next three matches in KwaZulu-Natal.
Royal AM were 2-1 winners over bottom placed Spurs at the Cape Town Stadium to move up one place to 13thin the table and next meet Richards Bay, then Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu before the end of the year.
“This is our opportunity, they are all coming to our home to play us and that's what we've been preaching to the players, saying we got to make sure that we go out and do well in those three games.
“There's no excuse when you're playing at home. We must work as much as we can do and so everything that we can and make sure we win those games.”
Maduka said Royal AM has struggled initially against Spurs, losing possession and much of the midfield battles.
“Once we started playing our normal game, we were able to give them problems. And in those moments, we managed to create good chances. But it was not the best performance, but I’m still happy with the result.
“Normally, when you don't win games, your confidence slips and you tend not to believe in yourself. But the more you win games, you start getting that confidence again.”
Royal AM had lost their last four away games before Saturday’s win, which was only their fourth of the season.
