The Republic of Ireland have benefitted from an influx of young talent into the forward ranks in recent years.
However, it's fair to say that, aside from the early stages of 18-year-old Evan Ferguson's top-flight career, many have thus far failed to sustain the required performance level to succeed at the highest grade.
Aaron Connolly, Michael Obafemi and Adam Idah have all seen Premier League game time at stages of their young careers, but consistency and fitness, among other reasons, has curtailed their rise. Troy Parrott is another of that promise and ability.
Norwich City's Idah - a player very much admired by Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny - was trusted to lead the Irish line in Ferguson's absence for the September fixture's against France and Holland.
Having notched from the penalty spot against the latter, Idah - still only 22 - now needs to deliver on the club stage for the Canaries, with fellow strikers Josh Sargent and Ashley Barnes missing through injury.
His club and international teammate Shane Duffy holds the Cork native in high regard, but insists that a greater self-belief is all that needs to be added to his already well-rounded game.
"Adam just needs to believe in himself. He's got power, strength, pace, he just needs that belief," Duffy told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"I can see it everyday, he's working really hard and the lads say there's a big difference in him this season.
"You saw him against Netherlands, against Virgil van Dijk - that's one of the best defenders in the world - it's just about belief," added Duffy.
The powerful 22-year-old has netted twice for his club this term, one of which being a last-minute winner against Hull.
