'That's inside information' - Jadon Sancho reveals pre-season meeting that prompted Man United exit

Jadon Sancho has revealed that Marco Reus encouraged the Manchester United winger to return to Borussia Dortmund when the two clubs met in pre-season.

Sancho was seen embracing and talking to Reus after the 3-2 defeat on the Allegiant Stadium pitch in Las Vegas back in July when the teams toured the United States. Just over a month later, Sancho released an extraordinary social media message that led to his fall-out with Erik ten Hag.

The United boss said he had axed Sancho from the squad to take on Arsenal on September 3 due to inadequate training levels, but the player later took to Twitter to essentially accuse the Dutchman of lying. He said he felt he had been a “scapegoat for a long time”.

The exiled Sancho has since deleted his tweet but has refused to apologise for his stance. As a result, the 23-year-old has secured a return to Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season.

Sancho, who has grabbed two assists in his first two games back in Germany, explained how Reus had sent him a message about coming back to Dortmund. Speaking to club media, Sancho said of Reus: "There's a video clip from Las Vegas where he told me to go back to Dortmund, so that’s inside information. He told me, ‘Whenever you're ready, I'll be here.'”

Sancho previously outlined how he had always kept in contact with Reus and other Yellows teammates. "Since I left BVB, I have stayed in touch with all the players and have always watched the games. I spoke often, especially with Marco Reus and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, because we both come from London."
