“Why not?” responded Mikel Arteta when asked if Arsenal should be in the conversation to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé (25), fuelling rumours of the Premier League side’s interest in the France captain.
Whilst Mbappé’s future is not yet decided, one thing is clear – he will not be playing his football at the Parc des Princes next season. As per multiple sources, including RMC Sport, L’Équipe and The Athletic, the Frenchman informed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he would be leaving Les Parisiens upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.
Real Madrid are the strong favourites to sign Mbappé, who will be available on a free transfer. However, rumours of Premier League interest, notably from Liverpool, but also from Arsenal, persists. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Arteta has added fuel to those rumours.
