Tottenham Hotspur have no fears about Ange Postecoglou departing the club prematurely this summer, football.london understands, despite links with Liverpool and Manchester City.
Postecoglou has impressed everyone within Spurs since arriving at the club last summer from Celtic on a four-year contract. The Australian has transformed the team's style of football while leading them into fifth place in the Premier League and three points off second-placed Manchester City despite losing star player Harry Kane on the eve of the season and suffering an injury crisis for much of the campaign.
The only disappointments have come in the cup competitions with a penalty shoot-out loss at Fulham in the Carabao Cup and defeat to holders City in the FA Cup on Friday night. Other than that Postecoglou has been a breath of fresh air at the north London club and has already begun planning for the long-term as Spurs have moved quickly in both of his transfer windows to give him what he needed.
Then this week, Postecoglou was linked as one of the candidates to succeed Pep Guardiola in 2025 when his current Manchester City contract ends and then after the shock news that Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, the Australian was also linked with that job.
The Postecoglou links to Liverpool are mostly off the back of Postecoglou having supported the club as a child, although he said before Spurs took on Klopp's side in September: «I had a couple of mates who went the United way so I went with Liverpool to make it interesting. Like any kid, I had the posters up on the wall. Liverpool was my team, but you grow up, things change. I used to love Happy Days. But I don't have posters of The Fonz on my wall now. That’s how it goes.»
