Andros Townsend held aloft a Tom Lockyer shirt as he paid tribute to Luton’s captain after scoring against Newcastle.
Lockyer is now at home recovering following a cardiac arrest against Bournemouth last week and having an ICD device fitted to prevent a repeat.
But he was firmly in the thoughts of everyone inside Kenilworth Road including Townsend who ran to the bench to grab a shirt with Lockyer’s name, showing it to all parts of the ground, after opening his account for Luton.
Lockyer’s shirt, shorts and shinpads were in his usual spot in the dressing room as Luton continued to show their support for their absent skipper after the harrowing events at the Vitality Stadium.
They warmed up wearing tops with ‘4 Locks’ on them, a minute’s applause was held in the fourth minute while Lockyer’s name was sung repeatedly throughout.
Banners from both sets of fans were also displayed at Kenilworth Road.
