What Gabriel Jesus did to Aaron Ramsdale after disastrous Arsenal mistake vs Brentford
Aaron Ramsdale had endured a quiet return to the Arsenal starting XI against Brentford until disaster struck late into the first half. The Gunners had dominated the opening 45 minutes at Emirates Stadium with Declan Rice netting his sixth Premier League goal of the season midway through the half as he glanced home a superb Ben White cross.
Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard also had some good chances but were unable to double the hosts' advantage, however, it looked as though they would head into the break ahead with Brentford offering little in attack. But that swiftly changed with just a few seconds until the interval as Yoane Wissa chased down a ball back to Ramsdale.
Despite taking a great first touch, the Arsenal goalkeeper delayed his pass which allowed the Bees forward to get in a sliding block which saw the ball then nestle into the back of the net.
The England international lost his place in the starting XI to summer Brentford loan signing David Raya back in September however the latter is unable to feature against his parent club. In the reverse fixture, Ramsdale kept a clean sheet but he will not be repeating that achievement this time around.
After watching the ball drop into his goal, Ramsdale fell to his knees with it likely he wanted the ground to swallow him up. Just a few minutes later the halftime whistle went with Ramsdale trudging towards the tunnel but before he could get there, the entire Arsenal bench consoled the goalkeeper following his disastrous mistake.
