Wolkite City have struggled all season but have now earned back-to-back wins to jump up the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League, while Wolaitta Dicha defied all odds to shock Fasil Kenema.
Wolaitta Dicha caused a great upset on Thursday by beating Fasil Kenema 2-0.
Biniam Fikre shot Wolaitta Dicha into the lead on 37 minutes against the run of play after they had been under intense pressure from Fasil.
Fasil were rattled by the goal and threw everything at their opponents to try and get an equaliser.
However, on the stroke of halftime they were caught out once again as Zelalem Abate got on the end of a sweeping counter-attack to double the lead for Wolaitta Dicha, much to the surprise of the traveling Fasil fans.
The second half was all Fasil but Wolaitta mounted a defensive masterclass to hand the high-flying "Emperors" their first defeat of the season.
In the other fixture of the day, Wolkite beat Hambericho Durame 1-0 to heap more misery on the new boys.
Hambericho put up a great fight and it seemed like they were going to come away with a goalless draw until disaster struck late in the game.
Ame Mohammed scored for Wolkite with four minutes left on the clock and his 86th-minute strike proved to be enough to earn Wolkite maximum points for the second week running.
