Liverpool will be aiming to deny West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen his ideal birthday gift in their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash.
The Reds are set to go up against David Moyes’ side as they look to move a step closer to claiming the first piece of silverware up for grabs this season. Jurgen Klopp’s team have defeated Leicester City and Bournemouth to reach the quarter-final stage but face a tough task against the in-form Hammers.
Liverpool have won the competition on a record nine occasions and manager Klopp has spoken of the important role the Carabao Cup can play in setting the tone for a successful season. However, Bowen, who turns 27 today, will be out to disrupt Liverpool’s aims and score at Anfield for the second time this season.

A huge Super League decision is about to be made - and the outcome could affect Liverpool
“I will be away for my birthday because we’re playing Liverpool and that is another great game for us,” Bowen told West Ham’s club website. “You know we are one game away from a semi-final in the Carabao Cup.
“It is a trophy to try and grab. Any trophy you win is a massive landmark for anyone. It is a really tough game against Liverpool, but we have some really exciting games coming up to really kick on again.
“We’re also into the knock-out stages of the UEFA Europa League and we’ve got the FA Cup to come so there are still lots of opportunities. You want to compete in every competition and they're all big opportunities to win trophies.”
Bowen added: “A 1-0 win and a goal would be nice but if we get through, I think that would be a nice birthday present.”
