Following the Liverpool match on Saturday evening in London against Tottenham Hotspur, football fans have been looking for an explanation for the huge error that meant that Luis Diaz was denied a goal to open the scoring for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
In the following days, there was uproar from the footballing world as fans and pundits called for the audio of the decision-making process to be released.
On Tuesday evening, the PGMOL did just that, which confirmed their original statement to be true - that significant human error led to the incorrect decision being made for the Diaz goal.
The PGMOL statement read, “As stated shortly after the full-time whistle on Saturday evening, we acknowledged in a statement that a significant human error had occurred during the aforementioned match, which we recognise should have resulted in a goal being awarded through VAR intervention.”

The Liverpool ECHO has had an array of comments following the decision to release the audio, with many furious at the error.
A writer called Crangernj wrote, “Embarrassment. Incompetent,” before another commentator called Earlgrey said, “Biggest mess in the history of officiating. Good process. Sometimes you've just got to admit that your judgement isn't up to scratch anymore. Over to yous, Ref and Var.”
