Alan Shearer says Mohamed Salah’s unwillingness to be discouraged by his missed chances against Brighton, which ultimately led to him scoring the winner, underlines his 'world-class' talent.
The Egyptian fired in a staggering 12 shots on goal during the contest, with four of them on target. It turned out that only one of his efforts was needed to find the net, with Liverpool’s 2-1 win sending them two points clear at the summit.
Salah is only two goals behind leader Erling Haaland in the Premier League golden boot race, having netted 22 times in 33 matches across all competitions. When assists are included, Salah has amassed 35 goal contributions in total so far.

Liverpool player ratings as one star stands out in huge Brighton win
With Arsenal and Manchester City drawing at the Etihad Stadium later on Sunday, Liverpool’s victory puts them in the driving seat for the title run-in. Shearer hailed the attacking strength Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal and praised the "unbelievable” Salah.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer said: “It’s been a great weekend for Liverpool. At times, you thought it was going to be a frustrating afternoon. They go behind early - Welbeck with a great strike - but they kept on going.
“There was no panic. It is the same old thing with Liverpool and their firepower, if one of them is off, then someone else will step up. [Darwin] Nunez had a quiet game, but then Salah, I think he had 12 shots!”
Host Gary Lineker interjected: “He loves a shot, does Salah.”
Shearer added: “He’s brilliant. Unbelievable. A sign of a world-class striker is you’re going to miss chances, but you keep on getting in there.
