Alfie Devine will be hoping to have a big say on Plymouth Argyle's Championship encounter against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon. Having slipped to two successive defeats against Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday, the Pilgrims find themselves nervously looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone.
Although they are currently 16th in the Championship table, their midweek defeat in South Yorkshire has seen the Owls in 23rd close to within two points of them. It is imperative that Ian Foster's side get back to winning ways as soon as possible, and Devine has a key role to play in helping his new loan club retain their Championship status.
Previously a regular in the starting XI following his January loan move to Home Park from Tottenham, the 19-year-old has been on the substitutes' bench in the past three games. An unused sub at Hillsborough in midweek, Devine could potentially find himself back in the team away at Blackburn Rovers this weekend as Foster looks to guide his side to three important points after failing to score in their last two outings.
Enjoying such a successful loan spell with Port Vale in League One in the first part of the season, Devine was recalled by Tottenham in January and immediately linked up with Plymouth with the Lilywhites keen to see him tested at Championship level. Things unfortunately haven't gone the player's way in the past three games but there is still plenty of time for the England Under-20s international to have a big say on the outcome of Plymouth's season with ten Championship games remaining.
