Full Tottenham and Aston Villa fixture list compared ahead of decisive Champions League clash

Sunday looks set to be a pivotal day in terms of the top four in the Premier League. Not only do Liverpool and Man City go head-to-head in a game that could have major consequences on where exactly the league title ends up come Sunday, May 19, Aston Villa and Tottenham start the day with a mouth-watering clash at Villa Park.

Both sides are eyeing up a Champions League berth, with Unai Emery's team currently in the driving seat for fourth as things stand. There is of course the possibility that a fifth-place finish could result in a place in Europe's premier competition for next season but there are no guarantees that will turn out to be the case.

That is why it is imperative that a side with Champions League dreams finishes in the top four. Aston Villa, having played one game more than Spurs, are five points ahead of Ange Postecoglou's side as we approach the business end of the season.

A Villa win on Sunday and that would give Tottenham such an uphill task in what remains of the season to finish in the top four. A Spurs win, however, and that would open up the door for the Lilywhites to leapfrog the Midlands club due to their game in hand.

While this weekend's showdown could have a big say on who qualifies for the Champions League and who misses out, fourth place will not be determined come 3pm on Sunday as there is still so much football to be played between now and the end of May.
