Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham players are going to have to bide their time when it comes to righting the wrongs of last Saturday's Wolves defeat. Far from their best at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and once again starting slowly, Gary O'Neil's team punished the Lilywhites and duly collected all three points courtesy of Joao Gomes' double.
It was a missed opportunity for Tottenham in the top-four race, with Manchester United closing to within three points of them the following day after their victory at Luton Town. Not having a game this weekend as Spurs' trip to Chelsea has been postponed as a result of the Blues participating in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, Postecoglou and his squad will instead be spending their time on the training pitch at Hotspur Way.
In an ideal world, the players, and Postecoglou for that matter, would undoubtedly have liked a game in the days after the Wolves encounter just to try and put things right on the pitch. That is not the case though, with Spurs next in action on Saturday, March 2 at home to Crystal Palace.
One positive to the break in play for the team is that Postecoglou can have a sustained period of quality time on the training pitch with his players. While that has been pretty much the case at Hotspur Way for the vast majority of the season with the team usually having a week between games due to not playing in Europe this season, the head coach will want to work on a number of specific areas as he looks to get his team back on track ahead of a big end to the campaign.
Speaking after the Wolves defeat last Saturday, Postecoglou was asked if he thought the break for his team was a bit of a blessing.
