Ange Postecoglou looks to have been forced into adding a new Tottenham undroppable to his starting XI ahead of the clash against Wolves. Injuries and international commitments have seen numerous important Spurs players miss lengthy periods of action, however a key quartet have all returned in the last few weeks.
For the Premier League clash against Manchester United in the middle of January, both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were back in the starting XI after recovering from hamstring injuries. Gradually over the following weeks Postecoglou welcomed back more players in with James Maddison, Pape Matar Sarr, Son Heung-min and Yves Bissouma all on the pitch for the final 30 minutes against Brighton
With that, Postecoglou appeared to finally have his strongest XI on the pitch at once, although that luxury arriving from the start is not on the cards to occur against Wolves this weekend with two key players ruled out by Postecoglou.
«We’ve had a couple of setbacks this week,» he revealed on Friday. "Destiny [Udogie] obviously picked up a little bit of a knock last week. Not available for tomorrow, don’t think it is anything too serious. With no game next weekend, he should be back. Pedro [Porro] picked up a strain at training. Again, probably a couple of weeks for him. With the game break hopefully he doesn’t miss too many."
Porro and Udogie missing out would be a significant blow, considering Postecoglou's tactical use of the duo, with no replacement having the ability to invert. The expected duo to start against Wolves in place of the duo would be Emerson Royal and Ben Davies, with the pair also having to fill in for Romero and van de Ven already this season because of injuries with Postecoglou particularly pleased with
