Arsenal will only accept an exit for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in the January transfer window if the bid is a «big» one, according to a recent report. It comes as the England international continues to be linked with a potential move away following a recent change in his squad status.
The shot stopper was the number one option for Mikel Arteta since making the switch from Sheffield United for a fee worth roughly £30million. Ramsdale quickly displaced Bernd Leno with the gloves and hadn't turned back since, helping the side record two improved finishes on the bounce.
There were some questions over whether he would be suitable for a title push though, given some key errors in the back end of last campaign that saw the side collapse and finish second. However, it appeared as though he would be safe, until the summer transfer window brought about some surprises.
From seemingly nowhere, the Gunners confirmed a loan deal to land David Raya from Brentford, with the option to buy at the end of the season — which football.london understands is worth £27million. The Spaniard quickly took his place as the new number one, despite plenty of questions over his own mistakes in the first few outings.
That has left Ramsdale cast aside for now as the cup goalkeeper, which has brought up questions over his future at the club. «I want Aaron with us. I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us,» Arteta told the press when questioned on his options earlier this season.
