Arsenal owners spotted as January transfer pressure increases after Liverpool defeat
Arsenal owner Josh Kroenke was spotted at the Emirates Stadium after Mikel Arteta's side were knocked out of the FA Cup. The Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat against Liverpool after failing to take their chances in front of goal once again on a frustrating night in north London.
The defeat against the Reds is yet another example as to why Arsenal must sign a clinical striker if they are to win trophies and finally end their Premier League title drought. Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have failed to prove their consistency in front of goal so far this season, whilst Kai Havertz struggled at centre-forward against Jurgen Klopp's side.
Despite having 18 shots in total against Liverpool, Arsenal failed to find the back of the net with Martin Odegaard's effort which hit the crossbar being the closest the Gunners got to scoring. Havertz, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka all missed golden opportunities to open the scoring before Jakub Kiwior turned the ball into his own net in the second half to give Liverpool the lead.
As the game drew to a close, Luis Diaz secured Liverpool's place in the FA Cup fourth round with a deadly finish leaving Aaron Ramsdale helpless. To highlight Arsenal's problems in front of goal, particularly at home, they have failed to score from any of their last 48 shots in the last two fixtures at the Emirates Stadium.
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright pleaded for the Gunners to go and sign a new striker in the January transfer window with a simple four-word message during the defeat against Liverpool. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Wright wrote: «We need a killer.»
