Resurgent Bournemouth climbed further away from the Premier League relegation zone with a comfortable 2-0 away win on Wednesday against a Crystal Palace side who are on a very different trajectory.
Marcos Senesi's header divided the sides at halftime and substitute Kieffer Moore wrapped it up for Bournemouth in stoppage time as disgruntled Palace fans headed for the exits.
Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth have now gone four games unbeaten in the league and are up to 15th place in the table with 16 points from 15 games, nine clear of 18th-placed Everton.
Palace, who have just one win from their last eight league games, are in 14th place, also with 16 points, and face Liverpool and Manchester City in their next two matches.
Bournemouth deserved their three points as they kept a clean sheet away from home for the first time this season.
Their opening goal in the 25th minute rather summed up Palace's display. Marc Guehi's horrible sliced clearance gifted the visitors a corner and when the ball was swung in Luis Sinisterra flicked it on and Senesi stooped to head in.
Palace re-appeared early for the second half, probably with some harsh words ringing in their ears, and they were briefly energised with former Bournemouth player Jefferson Lerma striking a right-footed shot that thudded against the post.
The hosts had plenty of possession but they fizzled out badly and Moore headed in his first goal of the season as he met a superb dinked pass by Philip Billing.
"We were efficient today. We were not brilliant," Iraola said after his side's third win in four games.
"We have a difficult one at the weekend against Manchester United but we have to give it a go, play to our level and see if that is enough to get a result."
