Liverpool midfielder Ceri Holland has revealed the club's desire to improve its standing on and off the pitch was one of the biggest factors behind her decision to sign a new deal.
The Wales international arrived at Prenton Park in January 2021 and was one of the standout performers last term as the Reds secured a seventh-place finish in the Women's Super League (WSL). Her impressive form drew admiring glances from a host of top clubs but Holland reaffirmed her commitment to Matt Beard's side by signing a two-year contract extension last month.
And the 25-year-old, who was voted Liverpool's Players' Player of the Year last term, admits the club's decision to repurchase Melwood as a state-of-the-art training base for the women's team played a part in her decision to stay on Merseyside. "I think the ambition in the club now is huge," she said.

"I think if you look at (Melwood), I think that’s a fantastic facility. That’s taken a bit of time for that to happen but that’s an incredible facility and we looked around and there’s no excuses for us now to perform at our very best every week as we’ve got everything there we could possibly need. I think that’s a massive thing for me.
"I think I wanted to know the club was investing and there definitely is that. I think also the environment, I really enjoy the environment that we’ve got at Liverpool, it’s a very family-oriented environment and everybody is very close and we get on really, really well as a team but also as a staff as well.
