Mauricio Pochettino says he will speak to Chelsea's owners to find out where they stand after it was announced on Thursday they had made a pre-tax loss of £90.1million for the year ending June 30, 2023.
That followed on from losing £121.4m the previous year, adding to concerns the club owned by Todd Boehly will need to sell significantly this summer in order to avoid breaking the Premier League's financial rules.
Chelsea insiders dispute that, adding they are confident they will encounter no issues.
In fact, they want to spend this summer, with their interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams being revealed this week. The 21-year-old has a £43million release clause in his contract.
'I don't know,' Pochettino said when asked if Chelsea would be allowed to spend any money this summer. 'I need also to be informed. Today, we did not talk about that.
'We will talk and I will be informed, for sure. I don't know. Maybe tomorrow we will have better information and I can explain next time my opinion.'
Chelsea have made significant money through player sales in previous windows, such as the £55m they received for Mason Mount from Manchester United.
June 30 of this year is the key date for staying on the right side of the Premier League's PSR rules, and other homegrown players including Conor Gallagher will continue to be subject to speculation as they represent pure profit on the balance sheet.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have suffered yet more losses in their squad to injuries, with Ben Chilwell succumbing to a knee injury and Levi Colwill picking up a toe problem.
