Chelsea have been encouraged to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the January transfer window. The 22-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League recently following his impressive performances for Napoli.
Kvaratskhelia, who sees his contract at the Diego Maradona stadium expire in 2027, has featured 12 times for the Italian giants in the Serie A this season, scoring four goals and recording four assists. His eye-catching displays led Napoli to the club's first Scudetto in 23 years, while also earning the nickname 'Kvaradona'.
The Georgia international has quickly become one of the biggest names in Italian football and, with the Blues underperforming in the final-third, he's been identified as Todd Boehly's next luxury signing. Speaking to GGRecon, Glen Johnson explained why Chelsea must consider bringing Kvaratskhelia to Stamford Bridge.
The former Blues defender said: «I’ve obviously not seen him play as much as the wingers that are currently with Chelsea, but from what I saw of Kvaratskhelia in the Champions League with Napoli last season, he looks like a proper threat in front of goal. He’s quick, he’s got a great strike on him and he will get goals, which is something that many of the wingers aren’t doing at this moment in time at Chelsea.
»They don’t necessarily need to buy another winger, but Kvaratskhelia could represent a step up on some of the wingers at the club if he continues on doing what he’s doing at the highest level. If he’s available and he’s not going to cost an astronomical amount, then this is definitely a deal for Chelsea to keep their eye on."
