Christian Eriksen slammed by ex-Real Madrid hardman over 'scandal' as coach makes controversial call

Former Real Madrid midfielder Thomas Gravesen has expressed serious concerns over Christian Eriksen's place in the Denmark squad in relation to his playing time at Manchester United.

Eriksen's inclusion in the latest Denmark team has become an issue due to his lack of game time with the Red Devils. Despite being a key player for Tottenham in the past, he has failed to make his mark at Old Trafford this season.

With just 11 starts under his belt and a single goal scored, his appearances on the pitch have been infrequent — his last outing was during United's surprising 2-1 loss at home to Fulham last month.

Denmark are preparing for friendly matches against Switzerland and the Faroe Islands, but Gravesen is not convinced by coach Kasper Hjulmand's decision to include Eriksen in the mix. In a talk with Tipsbladet, the former Everton player didn't mince his words as he critiqued the selection process.

«It is completely scandalous that he has not selected Nicolai Vallys. It's a scandal of great proportions that we have a national coach who looks so little towards Denmark when there's a player running around with those qualities,» Gravesen argued.

He further stressed his concern about Eriksen, saying: «When you look at the way he is playing football at the moment. And then they choose to take out a player who has sat on the bench at Manchester United, Christian Eriksen, just to maintain relations.

»The Christian Eriksen we all know, he is no longer there. Christian Eriksen doesn't play football anymore.
