Jurgen Klopp has defended Trent Alexander-Arnold after the Liverpool man was targeted by Manchester City players in the wake of comments regards winning trophies at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold caused a stir among the City faithful when, speaking in the latest FourFourTwo magazine regards the ongoing rivalry with Pep Guardiola's side, he declared "our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs, financially".
Liverpool have won almost every major honour during the departing Klopp's near nine-year tenure - including the Reds' sixth European Cup and 19th league championship - and are the only club to stop City from winning the title in the last six years. However, the Etihad outfit made the most of their unique advantages by winning the treble of Premier League, a first-ever European Cup and the FA Cup last year.
