William Gallas has called on Tottenham to be «careful» if they want to finish in the top four this season and has compared Ange Postecoglou to Marcelo Bielsa.
Spurs return to Premier League action this weekend against Crystal Palace after a fortnight of preparations, looking to claw back the gap between themselves and fourth-placed Aston Villa. After the 2-1 home defeat to Wolves, Postecoglou's tactics came in for some criticism despite it being only Tottenham's second defeat in their past 10 matches in the competition.
Former Spurs defender Gallas, who won the Premier League twice with Chelsea, believes Postecoglou needs to be more careful in the way his team plays and tweak his tactics. The Australian has always made it clear though that being careful and cautious is not the way his sides play football.
«I think Tottenham's defeat against Wolves has shown me that Tottenham must be careful if they want to finish in the top four. I think they need to be careful with the way that they play. We all know the system – the high line – and they were playing so well at the beginning of the season playing high and pressing the opponent with a lot of intensity,» Gallas told Gambling Zone.
«Physically, it's hard to that in every game. Maybe Tottenham have to make some tactical changes because all of the teams in the Premier League know how they play. When you look at the goal that Tottenham conceded on the counter-attack, that is not good. They concede the goal on 63 minutes. If Tottenham keep getting caught out, they will give away a lot of chances and they will drop a lot of points.
