Natasha Dowie has dismissed Joey Barton as attention-seeking as the former England international’s tirade against women working in men’s football continues.
The 41-year-old has been widely condemned by the footballing world for his ongoing comments with regards to Women’s football since he was sacked as Bristol Rovers manager last October.
Repeatedly dismissive of the sport and the presence of former female players as pundits on the men’s game over the past month, Barton sunk to new lows earlier this week as he compared Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward to serial killers Fred and Rose West as the pair served as pundit on co-commentator on ITV's coverage of the FA Cup third-round tie between Crystal Palace and Everton.

ITV would release a statement condemning Barton for his ‘vindictive remarks’, accusing him of being ‘contemptible and shameful’. The former midfielder has since bitten back with x-rated retorts, while also hitting out at Gary Neville, who has worked as a pundit in the past for the television station, after the Manchester United legend supported its response.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Barton has made controversial headlines in recent weeks. He took issue with Mary Earps after she won BBC Sports Personality of the Year last month, and first vocalised his issues with women pundits in men’s football at the start of December off the back of Amazon Prime's coverage of their first midweek round of Premier League games of the season.
