Ian Wright is in agreement with Brentford manager Thomas Frank that Arsenal goalscorer Kai Havertz should have seen a second yellow card before netting a crucial winner against the Bees.
The German headed Arsenal ahead in the 86th minute to grab what could be a crucial three points in the title race. But after the game, it was argued by Frank that he should not have been on the pitch to score the goal after going down in the box under a challenge from Aaron Collins, Havertz was already on a yellow card after being penalised for an elbow on the same player.
Speaking post match, Frank said : «I actually don’t think Havertz should have been on the pitch when he scored the goal. „For me it was a clear dive in the penalty shout.
“If you see that slowly, the diving is clear. Maybe it’s difficult for the ref but the linesman maybe should have seen it.
»We are in that spell where we need to fight so hard for things and they put so much effort in there the players, it’s incredible. So you need things also to go your way, especially things you can’t control, like the referee decisions."
Despite his allegiances to Arsenal, Wright did agree that Havertz was lucky to stay on the pitch. He did however point to another decision during the game that didn’t go Arsenal’s way after VAR waved away a penalty shout on Leandro Trossard.
