As reported by Les Échos and confirmed by Get French Football News, AS Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev is open to selling the Principality club.
A statement from a representative of Rybolovlev’s family office stated that Les Monégasques’ Russian owner was exploring “strategic alternatives for its stake in the Club after receiving unsolicited inbound interest.” The statement added that Raine, who were involved in the process that saw INEOS invest in Manchester United, have been retained to serve as an “exclusive financial advisor” on the matter.
“There can be no assurances that the strategic review will result in any transaction involving the Club and we do not intend to make any further announcements regarding the strategic review at this time,” concluded the statement, which was released on Monday. Contacted by Get French Football News, the Principality club has not commented on the report.
The reports have surfaced in an important week, at the end of which ASM will face Olympique de Marseille. However, speaking to L’Équipe, Monaco’s sporting director Thiago Scuro has assured that it is business as usual at the club. “This kind of situation is a part of life at a football club,” began the Brazilian, who replaced Paul Mitchell in the summer.
He added, “Life goes on. It doesn’t change our day-to-day or our objectives. We remain fully focused on the season, with the desire to get the best result, be that our objective to finish on the podium in the league and get back into the Champions League, or our desire to go as far as possible in the Coupe de France.”
