Nicolas Jackson has been shown more yellow cards than he has scored goals in the Premier League since joining Chelsea
Nicolas Jackson has put Mauricio Pochettino under even more pressure following Chelsea's disappointing draw with Bournemouth. The 22-year-old striker, who joined the Blues from Villarreal in the summer, has been issued more yellow cards than he has scored goals in the Premier League.
Despite failing to find the net against Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season, Jackson impressed and caused Jurgen Klopp's side plenty of issues. However, in the dying embers of the tie, red mist descended on the Senegal international after he was fouled by Ibrahim Konate.
Frustrated with the challenge, Jackson waved an imaginary yellow card and he was subsequently booked by Anthony Taylor for his gesticulation instead. The striker led the line against West Ham the following weekend and, again, he was cautioned for another disciplinary issue – arguing with the referee.
Maybe after a firm talking to from Pochettino, Jackson managed to stay out of the referee's book against Luton Town and he scored his first Chelsea goal in the English top-flight. The Blues ace didn't learn his lesson against Liverpool and West Ham though, picking up a third yellow card in the first half against Nottingham Forest.
Unsurprisingly, his booking came after he requested for Ryan Yates to be booked. Then, with ten minutes to spare against Bournemouth, Jackson was given his fourth caution in five games.
"Because he's a striker and he needs to score. He is disappointed and frustrated, when something happens sometimes he complains, and today the rules about complaining to the referee is directly a yellow card. It's a rule and we need to accept it."
