The former Scotland international has served up a period of leave from fellow Premier League side, AFC Bournemouth, following a successful spell with the Cherries.
News of Edwards' return in a more significant role within the American sports conglomerate has been greeted by positivity from the Liverpool fan base. The former Tottenham analyst was behind the scenes during the Reds' rise to prominence under Jurgen Klopp that brought Champions League, Premier League and global accolades.

Edwards will commence the role from June 1, replacing Mike Gordon, departing his consultancy role at sports management business Ludonautics. He will be heading an important period in Liverpool's history after Klopp's shock decision to step down at the end of the season.
The new CEO of Football at Fenway Sports Group, and possibly Hughes, will be tasked with replacing the German. Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen has been tipped as the front-runner to succeed the 56-year-old, while the likes of Ruben Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann have been mooted as options.
