A musician picked her hobby over a career in medicine and hasn't looked back ever since.
Ellie Sax is now known for her musical expertise, having regularly played at Sin Sundays at Ibiza’s O Beach and Reminisce festival. She's not hard to miss, with her dazzling costumes, sparkling saxophone and infectious smile.
the 34-year-old, whose real name is Ellie Meredith, brings a hint of live music with her saxophone playing to DJs’ sets. But next month she is the one who will be centre stage as the musician brings her Ellie Sax Live show to Liverpool.

For anyone who has not seen you play, tell us who is Ellie Sax?
Well, I’m a sax player (laughs). In my show I play over house and dance music that I think is fun and that I want to hear on a night out. It’s all feelgood house, dance, EDM and drum and bass.
How long have you been playing the saxophone?
Since I was 10. I pestered my parents for a saxophone from the age of about three.
They were like ‘er, no, maybe when you are big enough’.
I think I asked them every Christmas for a saxophone until they gave in and then I loved it.
What caught your eye about the sax at the age of three?
It sounds crazy but I think it was Lisa Simpson (laughs).
My mum and dad listened to lots of different types of music – classical... jazz. Obviously the sax is very prominent in jazz so I think that is where I picked it up.
