Gary Neville labelled Destiny Udogie as a 'lucky boy' after the Tottenham defender clattered recklessly into Raheem Sterling in Monday's clash against Chelsea.
Udogie went in two-footed during a slide tackle as he attempted to win the ball back from Sterling who fortunately jumped over the incoming challenge.
VAR reviewed the incident but eventually decided a yellow card would suffice as punishment, something Neville vehemently disagreed with.
Udogie came off the ground with both feet and his studs up against Sterling and Neville is adamant the 20-year-old should have been sent walking.
'He's a lucky boy because that is a challenge that is universally hated,' said Neville on Sky Sports.
'That's the one the footballers, the professionals hate.
'You don't do that. That tackle went about 15, 20 years ago. You just don't do that any more.
'He would have snapped Sterling's leg had the Chelsea player not pulled it away.'
