A Port Vale fan CHASED the referee off the pitch at the end of their League One clash against Portsmouth in chaotic scenes.
The supporter managed to get onto the park at Vale Park during injury time at the end of the game against Pompey and ran towards startled man in the middle Craig Hicks. The official was offered protection from members of the security team on duty.
Port Vale boss Andy Crosby and first team coach David Dunn had to restrain the supporter as he made his way for Hicks. The incident came shortly after Pompey had bagged a controversial penalty in the 88th minute to win the game 1-0. Colby Bishop converted the spot kick but what followed afterwards shocked onlookers. Fans inside the stadium couldn't believe what they were witnessing and one fan wrote on social media: "Imagine trying to attack the referee for making the correct decision."
