Ange Postecoglou has admitted he used the recent break to start «mapping out» the longer term structure he wants to build within Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs return to action on Friday night in the FA Cup fourth round with a tie against holders Manchester City, having had almost two weeks off thanks to the Premier League's mini-winter break. The Tottenham head coach gave all of his players four days off towards the end of last week and many jetted off around the world to relax and restore their energy after a tough first half to the campaign.
Postecoglou admitted though that despite the return of his family from time spent back home in Australia, he's not the kind of person who can switch off for too long from work when asked whether he got up to much during the four days off.
«Not much. My family were away and they just got back, so it was some quiet time at home,» he said.
So did the Australian catch up on some binge watching of TV shows that had been on the family watchlist?
«No, work, there is work to do. I kind of use those moments to look a bit farther down and see stuff that needs to be done,» he said. «While the cold face of it is games to prepare for and win, there is some longer term stuff I am still keen to build within the club and you start mapping out those things and see if we can make an impact now or a bit later or when we are going to make an impact. It all helps you to get to where you want. Everybody wants to get away but even if I got away I would be thinking along those lines.»
