Pape Matar Sarr has made it clear that he wants to stay at Tottenham for «as long as possible» to push on and win trophies with the north London club.
The 21-year-old has become an integral part of Ange Postecoglou's midfield this season, with 20 Premier League appearances to his name, most of them in the starting line-up. The Senegal international has been one of the best young stars in the competition in a box-to-box role under the Australian, contributing three goals and two assists, including strikes in both of his previous two appearances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium including an equaliser in Saturday's 2-1 win against Brighton.
Last month, Sarr's efforts since arriving from Metz were recognised with a bumper new deal at Spurs which will, including an option for a further year, tie him to the club until 2030. The youngster, nicknamed 'Star Boy' by many around the club, has made it very clear that he feels like his long-term future lies in north London as he has big plans.
«It's a great feeling, being part of things here at Tottenham. It has become like a family to me now, so it makes me happy to have renewed my contract with the club. The view is to stay here for as long as possible so I can really express myself on the pitch, enjoy the experience to the full with the fans and push on to win trophies. I try to enjoy each match as it comes. I wanted to make this a great season for us all, and a good one for me,» he said in an interview in Spurs' most recent matchday programme.
