PSG boss breaks silence on Kylian Mbappe transfer decision after Mikel Arteta Arsenal hint

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has remained coy on Kylian Mbappe's future as speculation continues to swirl around his star player. It comes after widespread reports that the 25-year-old informed his side's president, Nasser Al Khelaifi, that he would be leaving at the end of the season.

Mbappe has long been expected to depart PSG at the end of his contract, which was revealed last summer to only be until June 2024, not 2025, but the latest update comes without a new destination confirmed. Real Madrid have been the front runners for Mbappe for several years now,but Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta refused to rule out signing the player.

«When there is a player of that calibre, we always have to be in the conversation but as you say it looks in a different way,» he told reporters when asked about the Frenchman. He added: «Why not? If we want to be the best team, we are going to need the best talent and the best players, that is for sure.»

Arteta didn't go as far as suggesting that the club were having conversations over acquiring PSG's all-time top-scorer, though. «I am not [in any talks],» he said. «Maybe Edu [Gaspar] and the owners are, but I am not in those conversations until the last stage.»

Enrique stayed quiet on the subject himself, too. “I have no information to give you," he said ahead of the Parisiens trip to Nantes on Saturday night. “Until the two parties involved speak publically, I will not say anything. When the parties speak, I will give you my opinion."
